Celebrate National Scrapbook Day, Saturday, May 1: $3 Billion Industry Gains Popularity in the Northeast
by Anonymous
April 24, 2004--Scrapbooking has been wildly popular in the Midwest for years. New England is one of the last regions in the United States to catch the scrapbooking bug, but it is making up for lost time. Creating Keepsakes, a top selling scrapbook magazine, is hosting a convention in Manchester, NH on May 14 and 15, and they will be back in the area in July for Creating Keepsakes University at the World Trade Center in Boston.
As National Scrapbooking Day approaches, Jeni Cameron, an Independent Instructor with one of the fastest growing scrapbook companies, is on a mission to share the importance of scrapbooking throughout Boston area. "Scrapbooking is not just cataloging your photos. It is an art form that makes your pictures come alive and allows your personal story to be passed down to the generations that follow," Cameron said. "Scrapbooking can bring families and friends closer when they scrapbook together. It opens the lines of communication and allows them to reminisce as they look over their photos and share stories."
There are common misconceptions about scrapbooking, such as the time and cost involved. Cameron is quick to point out that you do not need to make each page a masterpiece. "Simply attaching your pictures to beautiful, photo safe papers and adding journaling is already more interesting than a plain photo album. After spending money on cameras, film and developing, it is a waste to leave your photos in boxes until the stories of those pictures are forgotten!"
Jeni Cameron teaches in-home classes and sells top of the line, photo safe products. She also designs custom scrapbooks for those who realize the importance of scrapbooking, but do not have the time to make their own.
